While families are winding down for the holiday season, businesses are gearing up for a fresh start in 2013. Creative Bloq recently published an article featuring 14 trend predictions made by leading creatives. According to these insiders, we can expect to see the following trends:
- From Print to Digital – According to Luke O’Neill, launch art editor of Computer Arts Collection Magazine, designers can expect a shift from transitioning the print magazine to digital format, to a design crafted with navigation and usability in mind. Says O’Neill, “I think as both designers and consumers become more and more familiarized with the screen format, we’ll (hopefully) start to see more interesting design solutions and content delivery systems.”
- Animated Gifs are back in – A trend we’ve already seen emerging in 2012, illustrator Lee Crutchley sees it coming back even stronger in the next year. “It’s a well known fact that everyone loves animated GIFs these days,” he smiles. “And more brands are beginning to notice that.”
- Making New Stuff Appear Old – We’ve all seen the ’70s inspired effects brought about by the advent of Instagram filters. While finding inspiration from the past has always been prevalent, we can expect to see even more throwback art in 2013, and it’s not just about aesthetics. “I think as well as being a nice aesthetic choice made by designers, it’s also a subconscious by-product of the current economic situation,” explains Lee Crutchley. “Everyone is looking backwards at the moment. Remember those good times? Where did it all go wrong? How did it get better the last time this happened?”
